Trickle Down of UCI Rules for CX
Attention all Carolina's CX racers......per the UCI, feeding in CX races is no longer allowed anywhere on course, regardless of temperature. The CCA will be strictly enforcing this rule throughout the season so that you are adequately prepped for the UCI NC Grand Prix and CX Nats. Exceptions are only authorized under EXTREME conditions by the Chief Refferee.
Point of clarification, local non-UCI events are governed by the USAC rulebook. Rule 4A15 in the USAC rulebook, states that 'Feeding is generally not permitted unless specifically authorized by the Chief Referee....' Therefore, feeding in non-UCI races is at the sole discretion of the Chief Referee. So technically, a Chief Referee could allow feeding given the parameters outlined in the USAC rulebook. We allowed feeding in a CX race in Anderson, SC on Monday because it was 88 degrees and a major safety issue. HOWEVER, the point of my initial post was to inform local CX racers that the CR's, for all sanctioned local CX races this season, will exercise their discretion to disallow feeding....unless there are EXTREME circumstances to warrant feeding. This decision is based entirely on preparing riders for upcoming UCI and National CX Championships.
