Southeastern Regional Officials Clinic

Become a USA Cycling Race Official!

It’s fun, you can do it part-time and you get paid!

Classes are forming on 3/28 and 3/29 (Moto)

(pre-requisite for motorefs is completion of new officials clinic or already licensed Cat C Road Official)

Scott and Everyone,

Duke Spinelli has been able to confirm a location for our Cat C Officials Clinic and Motoref Clinic in Greenville, SC scheduled for Saturday March 28 and Sunday March 29.  The location will be:

109 Physicians Dr.
Greer, SC 29650

Regarding times for these clinics, we will plan to start at 9:00 AM on both days, and finish no later than 5:00 PM (possibly earlier on Sunday for those who need to travel).  We will take a brief break for lunch and will work out a plan for that.

What does an official do?
An Official’s License allows you to be a critical part of cycling events. You become a part of the event management that allows all of USA Cycling’s members to pursue their passion of racing, fairly and safely. It can be fun and very rewarding! As a USAC Official, you’ll learn to assist with the sporting and safety management of road races, criteriums, time trials, cyclocross, track and mountain bike races. There are many roles an official can take including referee, judge or motoref and it all starts with an officials clinic.

What kind of commitment does it require?
After you successfully complete the online or in-person exam, the USOC’s SafeSport training and a background check, you will receive a level C officials license. Officiate as many events as you like.... a couple of times a season or every weekend. You decide how many events you’d like to attend. Need more info? We can find officials for you to talk to!

Do I need a motorcycle?
Only if you would like to be a Motoref! Motorefs are required to take an additional day of training and an MVR check, but this is not a requirement to become a USA Cycling Official!

And I get paid?
Yes! You get paid for every event.

Updates and Info

If you have any suggestions, please let Robert know. Try to be resonably specific if you can as it helps in the long run. Remember to update your links for the CCA Offcial website to carolinascycling.org. We have setup web forwarding from our old site address.

We are constantly looking to make improvements to this website, from how we manage information dislay to maintenance. Now that the CCA Annual meeting is complete and the base calendar set, we are building the events calendar with many new features. We have all events from that list added. Some of the event info is basic until either the promoter provides it to me (Robert) or I pull it from the USA Cycling website once you start the permit process there. We do ask that you information always include the name and date(s) of your event. For the maps integration, we ask that you include an accurate address to the staging site or parking area for your event(s). Also new, is the ability for us to add some details to your event listing. This should be in plain text format and be reasonable length (i.e. not all the info from your flyer) but maybe some good info that is not on your flyer.
